My biggest guilty pleasure. 1990s Superboy. I. fucking. love. him. I love Modern Superboy too but there is just something about the massive levels of lame that coat 90s Superboy that make me love every fiber of his rockin' leather jacket and thigh belt. The 90s comics would be awesome if they did make me giggle every two seconds. There was a 'Double Dragon' movie ad in one of the issues I bought at Heroes Con. I almost lost it.

A little bit of a break between Senior Project posts.

Being that I am a full grown adult that watched My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and have been obsessed with MLP since I was a child, I HAD to draw some of my toys in the Faust style. For any that actually watch the show, I have an original Generation 1, Year 2 Twilight Sparkle from 1983. Recently found out that her tail has fallen out while she has been up in the attic. Rather depressed by that...She wasn't in the greatest condition anyway \:

There is Lemon Drop (1982, was apart of a Show Stable set) and Moonstone (G1, Year 2 1983) at the top--my Lemon Drop toy is actually missing her tail and was always the guy when I played with her.. Moonstone on the other hand is my bathroom buddy and is probably the most well kept of my ponies. She's my absolute favourite.

Next too are Up, Up & Away (G1, Year 5 1986) and Cotton Candy (G1, Year 7 1988)

Two more MLP doodles. Sunspot (G1, Year 7 1988) and my infamous Bridal Beauty (G1 Year 10, 1991) Bridal Beauty was one of the first ponies I actually remember being bought--most of the ponies from the 80s were second hand from cousins or my brothers friends. I was very little when I received Bridal Beauty and called her 'Fridal Fruity' since I couldn't say her name. I immediantly lost the ring that came with her. Her bouquet and veil, however, are still with her :)

Started some pre-production on my first lip sync I'll be doing for my senior project classes. I have a little audio of a man saying 'I don't get paid enough for this' so I wanted to do an animator trapped behind stacks of paper and working away.

Pretty happy with his design just need to decide if I like his head big or proportional.

My Granny has been in the hospital lately with liver disease and I drew her up a little cartoon of little me and her with some of her cats. This is the sketch. I did a nice inked version but didn't get a chance to scan it. I was hoping to colour it but we were running late to go visit her as it was.

The last week has been really rough but we're feeling optimistic.

I was four off on the amount of cats but I just wanted to get in the ones that I remember the most (who are now passed) The two my Granny is petting are Missy and Puss Puss, the one rubbing against her leg is Purr Purr. The fat one I'm petting that is sitting up is Mikey Mikey Motercycie and the cat peeking out from behind the sofa is Booger. The rest are just generic because I couldn't remember anyone else.

Storyboards for the first piece I'm going to be doing for my Senior Project 1 class.

I'm aiming for a 30 second animation and so far I have 18 storyboards..I may edit the story to be a tad short but I will be doing this as a cut-out animation so it might not be as much work as it seems

1- Pan down showing the sky and a dragon flying by and stop at the little fat dragon sitting and watching.

2- Fat Dragon looks at his tiny wings with a sigh.

3- Fat Dragon Gets determined

4- And runs off camera

5- Dragon is running across a field as fast as he can

6- Dragon squats down and jumps up

7- Slow motion of the Dragon 'flying' and being very happy

8 - Pull back to reveal he isn't moving and is only barely above the ground.

9 - Dragon looks down, realizing he isn't flying before falling on his face

10 - Close up as the Dragon starts sniffling

11- Dragon starts to cry and as he is crying, little sparks of fire start to come from his snout.

12 - As the dragon is crying, he starts to breath a lot of fire that pushes him back up to his feet.

13- Dragon realizes

14 - Dragon plots

15 - Dragon takes a deep breath, building up a breath of fire

16 - Dragon breathes as much fire as he can

17 - The fire jets the dragon off the ground and out of the frame

18 - The dragon is seen 'flying' in the background with a huge plume of fire pushing him through the air

Playing around with a concept for an all-ages comic book about a little girl named Molly who saves a spider from being crushed. That spider turns out to be a sorcerer that is a apart of a rebellion against a black widow that has taken over all the upper families of Aracnid (all the big ol spiders) and is planning to destroy all of bug kind so only spiders reign supreme. The sorcerer spider, a writing spider called Writer, turns her spider-size to show the other insects of the rebellion that there are people in the world that don't want to see insects get hurt.

Our world was one where life evolved from the ocean ecosystem that was left over on a dead planet. I chose to do a tropical climate based on a coral reef area.

Doing the 'Mort' book from the Discworld series but considering there is a 'Colour of Magic' and a 'Hogfather' movie, I'm going to avoid the obvious backgrounds like great A'Tuin and Ankh-Morpork.

While at the Atlanta Comic Con, I got myself a 90s Superboy figure from the DCU Classics lineup. A buddy of mine jokingly asked why Superboy was dressed like John Travolta. Which made me realize two things: one, I LOVE greasers...perhaps thats why I have such a guilty pleasure for 90s Superboy and two, I need to draw Cassie/Conner (Wonder Girl/Superboy) as Sandy/Danny from Grease.

So I did.

The mix of Wonder Girl's costume and Sandy's catsuit makes me smile.

Atlanta Comic Con: Doodles 2

As I mentioned in a previous post, I want to the first ever Wizards World Atlanta Comic Con this weekend. Being stuck behind an artist table for two days gives you some time to doodle.

After buying myself a Captain Marvel figure, decided to draw a cartoon version of the World's Mightiest Mortal.

Felt like drawing Wonder Girl so I did.

After doodling Superboy and Wonder Girl, decided to go for another Teen Titan I'm fond of--Kid Flash!

Coloured a doodle of Tabitha after being a little bummed out in the middle of the second day.

A very lazy doodle of Power Girl. It was my last doodle of the day. I just wanted to go home at this point lol

Atlanta Comic Con: Doodles 1

As I mentioned in a previous post, I want to the first ever Wizards World Atlanta Comic Con this weekend. Being stuck behind an artist table for two days gives you some time to doodle.

Doodled this in the morning before the con while I was waiting for my boyfriend to pick me up. Wanted to see how quick I could do a bust so I could do the free sketches inside of the issues of Laluelle.

Right across from our table was C. Martin Croker!! For those that don't know, C. Martin Croker is the voice of Zorak and Moltar from Space Ghost Coast to Coast which he was also the art director of..he's also the art director of Aqua Team and voices Dr. Weird and Steve from the opening of that show. Needless to say I was ecstatic. He is also a super cool guy and was a riot to talk to. After talking to him for a good while, I doodled a Space Ghost that I WOULD have given to him,,,but it was so off model, I would have been embarrassed lol

The first thing I bought at the con was the hardcover of 'Wednesday Comics' and a 90s Superboy action figure. It made my morning so I did a coloured doodle of Superboy in his totally rad 90s glory.

Warrior Rainbow Brite

The other day I was watching 'Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealers' and was thinking..you know, there are enjoy sexy renditions of Rainbow Brite out there. Where are all the bad-ass Rainbow Brites? I mean, she is the ruler of Rainbowland and has to protect it from darkness. She's like a 8 year old warrior queen.

So I decided to sketch up this warrior queen version of Rainbow Brite based off the poster of 'Star Stealers'.

Her outfit ended up looking more like Asian Battle armour and I decided to go the route of Native American warhorses with Starlite. I was debating medieval horse armour but since Rainbow never even puts a saddle on Starlite, I felt a Native American approach was more appropriate.

These are the flats and I'll be adding some basic shading as well as 'battle damage'

I've been a tad stressed out so decided to turn to something that always cheers me up, Disney! Doodled the faeries while watching the new Tinkerbell movie (which all three of them are actually very good.) Doodled a rather unimpressive Jasmine than decided to learn how to draw Rapunzel. I'm trying really hard to like this Tangled movie...but I love the concept art exceedingly more than anything else I've seen from it.

Abe Sapien is my favourite Hellboy character and as much as I draw Hellboy, I've only drawn Abe once before and it didn't look all that great. I decided it time to change that so I did some Abe doodles during class one day.

Doodles a little Guy Davis styled Abe to try and get a feel for his head shape first. Than tried him in my style.

An idea that's been rolling around in my head for a while. That iconic Creature of the Black Lagoon pose with Abe and a woman in an old school white bathing suit. I would have drawn him in full BPRD getup but I don't remember what it looks like.

More doodles while having lunch in my new favorite spot.

Inspired by this really nifty stairwell outside the windows of Tin Drum. They lead up to the second story of the shopping area and there's a handful of them throughout the whole complex. I really liked the little half moon shape and thought it looked like some crazy Queen Amidala headdress. So I doodled a bizarre outfit that I started off being really into but than just kinda grew indifferent.

Felt like drawing something, adorable, tiny and naked. So I drew a faerie. The end.

Some sketches for one of my classes, Digital Ink and Paint. We had to design a few cartoon cartoons influenced by different styles.

First Page: A little kid wearing his dads cloths inspired by Sunny paper stuff like Family Circus. A girl I didn't like inspired by Dee-Dee from Dexter's Lab and a nifty little Samurai guy inspired by Cheeks Galloway's style.

Second Page: Bruce Timm inspired James Bond type chick, weird kid in a dinosaur costume inspired by Adventure Time, an Elvis superhero pseudo-inspired by Johnny Bravo style but not really. Than just an adorable Nosferatu.

Third Page: Space girl inspired by retro pin-ups like the kind by Mashi and Amy Mebberson. A 1920s take on Tex Avery's Red, an Edna Mode type older lady and the shoulder devil and angel.

Fourth Page: Some horror cartoons. Totally didn't mean to draw the zombie and werewolf in the exact same pose. The Fat Werewolf comes from a joke my mom and I were making while watching True Blood (I admit it..I watch it). Apparently only gorgeous, well built people become werewolves and vampires.

It's probably obvious which ones were a minute. This is our first and only heavier model and while her short poses weren't too exciting, I did like her longer poses
